Cover the cracks in your cabin with Instatrim this winter

Cover Your Cabin Cracks!

According to the National Association of Home Builders, there are more than 7 million cabins, cottages and camps in the United States. If you own one of them, you know when to start preparing to keep the winter wind out.

Covering Window Cabin Cracks & Gaps

If you've experienced a Midwestern winter, you know how drafty windows can increase your energy bill, while also making cabin visits uncomfortably cold and damp. We have to cover our cabin cracks. Or we pay dearly.

However, crack covering isn't only critical in Midwestern states! Drafts of any kind can be uncomfortable regardless of the area you reside in, so covering your cracks is good practice in any part of the country.

Keep your energy bills low

Windows with air leaks make your heating or cooling system work harder over time, leading to higher energy bills. How can you give your heating and cooling systems a bit of a break? Sealing the cracks and gaps around your windows, doors, and anywhere else outside air might be making its way into the cabin.

When your heating and cooling systems work less, you will save money on your energy bills. We know what you're thinking: isn't that what weather stripping and caulk are for?

Let’s face it; weather stripping is unattractive, and you certainly don’t want to squirt messy caulk into your window creases! Nor do you want to take an entire day weatherstripping and caulking. It's the final days of good cabin time before the winter storms start hitting, and trips to the cabin dwindle. No one wants to work all day just to keep the drafts out! We want to fish, hike, and soak in as much outdoor time as possible.

Lower Your Energy Bills with InstaTrim

So what’s a good alternative? What can save you not just money on your energy bills, but also time spent installing it?

InstaTrim is a flexible, peel and stick trim solution that can cover your window gaps and the patented, self-centering wings assure uniform positioning on any properly prepped surface. In addition to keeping hot and cold air out, it provides a maintenance-free barrier that prevents debris from collecting in your crevices and bugs from getting inside your house!

The self-adhesive trim strips come in several colors, such as dark brown to match most flooring, so you have the choice of blending in or standing out, depending on your preference.

Save Time Applying a Universal Trim Solution

Application is easy. It will also last for many years, cutting down your to-do list each season when you have to prep your cabin for the winter weather and temperatures.

  1. Simply peel back the liner and hold the end of the strip with the adhesive side facing the corner.
  2. Line up the first 2-3 feet of the strip and press into place every 4-6 inches.
  3. Repeat with the next 2-3 feet until complete.
  4. Then, trim the finished end of the strip using scissors or razor blade!
  5. Finish off the ends with an End Cap.
