1/2 inch wide strips cover gaps up to 1/4 inch wide.
3/4 inch wide strips cover gaps up to 3/8 inch wide.
Our flexible trim strips feature a pressure sensitive adhesive. When applied with firm, constant pressure, InstaTrim will last for years without requiring replacement. For the best adhesion and professional look, we recommend the InstaTrim Applicator Tool and the InstaTrim Corner & End Caps.
Rubber-based butyl, pressure sensitive adhesive, contains no toxic chemicals or fumes. Conforms to ASTM D4236 (Info Tox International, Inc.)
InstaTrim’s flexible wings create an additional level of protection against dust, dirt, moisture and air movement. Our flexible wings apply pressure to the application surface creating a second barrier of protection.
We recommend using 1/2 inch wide strips.
If you are applying InstaTrim to an area that has old silicone caulk, you will need to complete the Silicone Removal Process.
Using a sharp blade, cut away and remove all existing silicone caulk.
Use a scrubby sponge or stiff bristle brush to help remove stubborn silicone residue with acetone or isopropyl alcohol.
Thoroughly wipe surface with acetone* to remove any remaining residue or oils left on the surface. Let surface dry completely.
*Only use Acetone in well-ventilated areas and avoid any exposure to ignition sources such as a pilot light, candle or cigarette.
Position the end of the strip at your starting point and lay the strip where it will be installed to determine where to cut the finish end. Be sure to add ¼ inch to the end to ensure a tight fit. Mark the strip and cut with a razor blade or scissors.
On the adhesive side of the trim, peel back the liner to expose the adhesive. Hold the end of the strip with the adhesive side facing the application corner. Push the first end of the strip onto the corner and apply the first 2-3 feet by pressing it down every 4-6 inches with your fingers. Repeat with the next 2-3 feet until you reach the end. If the strip is a little crooked, peel the strip back and reset it before the next step.
Next, firmly press the strip into the corner along the entire length, making sure you are applying enough pressure to allow the adhesive to bond with your application surface. We recommend using the InstaTrim Applicator Tool which helps to provide even constant pressure for the adhesive and also makes it easier on your fingers.
No drying time is needed. If you wish you may paint immediately after installing.
NOTE: Do not stretch the InstaTrim strip as you install it, this may cause the end to pull back once the trim has been set into place.
SURFACE PREPARATION –
To ensure an effective installation for InstaTrim’s adhesive to properly bond with the surface it is very important that the consumer follow all instructions for cleaning the application surface.
InstaTrim will not adhere to old silicone! All silicone caulk, residue and oils MUST be 100% removed prior to installing InstaTrim strips. See “Silicone Removal Process” for details on how to properly remove all silicone. NOTE: some tile, granite and quartz products come with a silicone sealer to prevent moisture and stains from absorbing into the surface.
WAX AND OILS -
Surface must be free from wax and oils. Do not use surface cleaners that contain waxes and oils, such as furniture polish, mineral spirits and surface restore products.
Application surface must be clean, dry and free of dust and dirt.

Worked well to replace silicone around tub perimeter between tub and walls. Can be much easier to remove than silicone if it needs to be redone in the future. Also it was much easier to apply and looks good.
Don’t do it
I prepped and cleaned and sanded and cleaned again. 3days of prep in total. Does fine at first. Curves or ridges will come loose first. Then the straight areas will follow. Save your money and get some caulk.
InstaTrim Self-Adhesive Trim Strips
Sounds like you did a great job prepping the surface. During installation, you must press it firmly to engage the adhesive. Enough pressure needs to be used to make the adhesive spread and grab on to the application surface.
Good n’ EZ
I had old carpet removed and it stripped the lower portion of my base boards. I covered it with the InstaTrim, it covered the damage and looks like a natural part of the boards. It was very easy to apply.
easy to use
Easy to apply , only problem is that mold is collecting on the material !
Not good at all. It didn’t stay-stuck around the toilet. I went back and put caulking in the gaps
We used the strip as a baseboard when we were renovating our camper. It worked well enough to stick to the flat straight surface but had hard time wrapping around the corners and also peeled up at the ends. Had to use white silicone to secure the strip down but once the silicone dried the overall look is good.
Haven’t used it
I haven’t installed it yet, mostly because of unpleasant changes in my life. But also I was dismayed to read that it won’t stick to painted surfaces, so it won’t work in one place where I wanted it. To tell the truth I forgot I had it. So thanks for the reminder, I’ll dig it out and use it where I can.
I was unhappy with the gap around our toilets. Well, my wife was unhappy with it. I procrastinated because I don’t like filling or caulking jobs but saw a post about InstaTrim, ordered it and wrapped both toilet bases in about ten minutes. It’s been a couple months and they have adhered well and look great. Very good results.
doesn't stay long in the bathtub....
It was fine for a month & then doesn't have a chance against the shower, maybe I didn't do it right ?
Easy to apply and covers up those unsightly gaps well. Only thing is don’t stretch it as you’re putting it on. Have a little gap where 2 edges meet. But the little gap is way better than the huge gap between the cabinet and the ceiling. I will definitely use this product over using caulk if the need arises.
Impossible to install
Terrible it’s so difficult to get On straight
Extremely easy to use. Have used it in place of baseboards in a family room and hall way for a nice clean look.
InstaTrim 1/2 Inch (Covers 1/4" Gap) - 10ft Long, 2-pack, White
Wonderful! Very easy to use and trim. Looks great. Such an improvement to my separating staircases.
Caulk wasn’t doing it . Every time someone stood on shower base , it moved and separated. This stuff works great and looks good.
Easy to apply and is still staying stuck in place after months of being put down, worked great
This stuff is really cool. It solved the problem of toilet and shower trim in our home. Easy to apply once all the old grout is cleaned off.
HOW TO APPLY
1 Clean surface and let dry.
2 Peel back the liner.
3 Press firmly into the gap.
4 Trim the finished edge, and voila!
