The Splice is Right
How to splice InstaTrim® end to end and corner to corner
A good looking InstaTrim installation requires proper product splicing, so the self-adhesive PVC strips meet in the right place to form the best relationship. With this in mind, here are some tips for placing the caulking alternative end to end and corner to corner in your home:
Splicing Two Strip Ends
- Place the end of the first strip, adhesive side down on a flat surface. Using a razor blade, cut the end of the first strip at a 45° angle
- Cut the beginning of the second strip at a 45° angle in the opposite direction so the two ends will overlap
- Apply a small dab of permanent glue to adhere the two pieces at the seam and ensure adhesion
Splicing Corners
- Butt the flat end of the strip against the adjacent wall
- Cut the end of the next strip at an angle to overlap the strip that is in place
- Apply a small dab of permanent glue to adhere the two pieces at the seam and ensure adhesion
- Overlap the beginning end of the second strip onto the first strip
