Use flexible trim strips on the ceiling while renovating the camper

Complete Renovation of a Vintage "Scotty" Camper

Learn how InstaTrim’s versatile peel and stick adhesive fills gaps with form, function and fashion.

InstaTrim flexible trim strips are helping a Georgia couple renovate their vintage camper. Lynn and Scott Langford have taken on what they’re describing as, “A DIY adventure like never before.” They’re renovating a 1965 Scotty camper they found at a flea market. Aside from the pristine original paperwork and an invitation to “Scottyland USA,” the vintage mobile unit has seen its better days. The depth of this renovation is nothing either of them has done before, and they’re excited. Scott is convinced that his wife will “live her best life inside this camper.”!

The exterior of the camper needs rust removal and a fresh coat of paint, but the windows, hub cabs and original Scotty emblems are intact. There is one missing window in the back, that may serve as the perfect opening for an air conditioner. The interior has the original flooring in most of the space, with some exceptions. With a trip to Lowe’s, a new version of the retro flooring was found to be a good match. Lynn reports they will stray from the original retro turquoise colors for inside walls and accents to create a more neutral and modern look.

These DIYers love the curved ceilings and other interesting curvy features in their new home away from home. They were pleased that Scott found InstaTrim in a Google Search because they needed a very flexible, moldable trim that would meet all of their needs. It’s an excellent vinyl baseboard adhesive that is replacing the quarter round molding, trimming windows, doors, the sink, and the curvy ceilings. Lynn said, “It will make our job a lot easier with putting the walls back together and trimming them because this peel and stick caulk easily sticks into place.” Lynn and Scott were also pleased to discover a product that can be used in multiple places and spaces, not just in the camper.

These happy campers have been working hard to transform their home on wheels. They’ve replaced walls, installed flooring, replaced the original hardware, updated the electrical system, and installed a new light, even though the original gas lantern is still intact.

CornerFlex, Inc. is pleased to play a role in the transformation inside this little Scotty and give you a sneak peek at renovation. We don’t want to give too much away until it’s all done, so watch this space for more photos of the completed vintage camper and visit Lynn’s Instagram for updates.
